Hello Goodbye Utah

We got to take a trip to Utah for a couple days this week & I'm missing it so much already. I LOVE Utah. Recently Heather reminded me how much I did not want to "get stuck" in Utah when I first moved out here & now I hate to leave it. I would love to build a southern style dream home with beautiful mountains as our backdrop here. Heres a picture overload from our short & sweet trip.

We got to see lots of Lyles family, from Great Grandparents to Aunt Janet to Grandparents and more. It was so fun catching up with all of them after almost 5 months! We went because we had a lot of loose ends to tie up but we did lots of exploring, which is my favorite. I love hiking, being outdoors and going on adventures with my favorite person. I have a huge list of all the fun things we have to do in Utah and I'm glad we got to cross some things off.  I wanted to fit in some last minute Summer activities because the next time we are back in Utah it will be mid November and probably snowy. So we went up a bunch of canyons this trip...starting with AF canyon anddd it was beautiful
the lighting is off here but I still love this picture
We got to go play in Spanish Fork canyon with my in laws too & it was a blast. We went 4 wheeling up the canyon and had a mini picnic- it was seriously so fun
Rob photobombing us
I love this picture of Lyle w/ his cute parents!
Then Rob & Stace pointed out this little swing & we had to try it out. I'm feeling a little like Julia Roberts in Runaway Bride here.
Then we went to see one of Lyles closest friends new baby! Meet baby Elsie, only 10 days old!
She is absolute perfection. I just stared at her the whole time. And I know I say this everytime I post a picture of Lyle holding a baby, but he looks 10x hotter. Oh my goshhhh
Then we met up with my beautiful cousin who just started her first semester at BYU! I am so excited to have her so close to us because we absolutely love her! I've loved having a cousin so close to me growing up, we have so many similar interests and she's tons of fun. Our initial plan was the Cocoa Bean which is one of my favorite cupcake places but they ran out of cupcakes! What?! So Lyle took us to one of his favorite crepe places and it was super yummy!
Then the next morning we explored Payson canyon & hiked up to the Grotto. It was just a little hike but it was pretty cool!
Then we went and took our one year anniversary photos and I am seriously so excited to get them back!! I am dying of anticipation over here. After that we celebrated with an early anniversary dinner at the Tree Room up at Sundance. It was amazinggg. SUPER expensive so it's gonna be for extremely special occasions but it was such a perfect atmosphere. They took care of our dessert and the staff was the best that I have ever had.
I miss home so much. I loved being back in my own bed and the perfect view from our window but I feel so blessed to have so many opportunities and such great family and friends around us. I wish we could have stayed a couple more days to fit in all the things we wanted to do and all the people we wanted to see but I am excited for whats next! This time next week we will be in Italy!! I will probably be posting lots with all thats coming up for us...esp some lovey pictures since its our one year and all coming up. Oh and heres one of Murphy because I missed him so!

Thug Life Shirts

Here's to the period in our lives where we live out of suitcases for months....hence me not being able to find clothes and put outfits together and basically living in workout clothes. But it's okay because I actually love living in hotels. Cheers to our LAST full week in Texas. Oh my gosh. Lyle asked me the other day if I felt like the Summer flew by and it most definitely did not. But I have loved this time together exploring a new city and I am so happy to support him in any way that I can. My days lately have been spent working out, trying to repack so we have less boxes (remind me next Summer to pack 1/3 of what I did) and planning our upcoming fun adventures. Lyle is gonna hit his goal and we will be in Utah on Sunday for a couple days to meet with counselors, do anniversary pictures, take tons of suitcases back and grab warmer threads for some East Coast and Europe weather. Then pack to Texas for a couple more days of selling & we are off! On a side note, I CAN NOT BELIEVE OUR ONE YEAR IS NEXT WEEK. Be prepared for a picture overload.

Oh and on a side note I LOVE this skirt. I first saw it but it sold out super fast and when it came back I snagged it because at Brickyard Buffalo the price is always right. P.S. I'm not even endorsed to say that, I seriously just love their stuff so much. I just ordered the most perfect fur vest I have been wanting for months and months. But anyway this skirt isn't lined so I had to wear a slit underneath but thats no problem. When I first saw it, it was styled as a coverup over a swimsuit and I initially planned on wearing it as one but it can be worn so many ways. For Summer it can be paired with floral and bright colored tops and then transitioned into Fall with blazers, cardigans and leather jackets. I bought a small but its a little more snug than my usual smalls just FYI. Oh and I had planned on wearing the cutest red pumps I scored for $8 at Platos Closet but well I bit by an ant or something and my foot is 3 times its normal size so I had to settle for flats I can barely fit in but hey, things happen. Anyway this wifey tee is cheaper than the ones all the fashion bloggers have because well I don't like to pay an arm and a leg for a tee but I basically live in this tee. I got it over a year ago and I wear it more than any tee I own. I love that I can wear it for date night and glam it up with some necklace and red lipstick but I can also wear it to sleep (because I do that too haha). Whatever works. I got it in a small and its not skin tight. The way I tied it below gives it a different look but I usually just wear it without the knot and its way comfy. Oh and this blazer? $10. I already blogged about it once but I just love Utah boutiques. I posted a great alternative for only $39. A blazer can dress up any outfit. Anyway thanks for stopping by, it really means a lot. If there are certain things you want to see styled or certain items you are looking for, feel free to let me know.

Hello Fall

I'm over here dreaming of Fall which I pretty much do all year round because it's my favorite. Favorite food, favorite clothes, favorite activities, favorite sights and favorite smells. I am still clinging to our next couple weeks of Summer because our "Summer" is actually just beginning over here in Measom household but I always find you get some of the best deals before the season actually starts or right after its over. Outerwear is not only Lyles favorite thing but its slowly starting to become mine as well so here are a couple Fall (excluding rain jackets & windbreakers) outerwear wardrobe staples:

a vest (a plain one to match things & a fun pattern)
a dressy coat (trench, double breasted style, etc)
a leather jacket (def black but brown is useful too)
a coat coat (something warm)
army style (camo or twill style- specifically army green)
I got this vest last year and I love it just as much. Classy and it goes with everything. Check it out on pinterest, there is a reason it was going for $400 on Ebay! People were and still are obsessed with the herringbone.
I've already posted this on my blog before because I love it that much. I can PROMISE you that you will fall in love with it. The quality and look of it is amazing. I purchased this a couple months ago because I had a discount and got it for like $35-$40. Lyle's eyes about popped out of his head (partially because my husband has a thing for ladies in leather jackets like this- he always thinks they are super hot). And it looks way more expensive that it was. You really can't beat this price. I always buy Fall stuff early and I have a feeling this baby will go fast when people start stocking up. You will love it. It's one of my favorite purchases,

I already ordered this because I am mad for plaid. No really, I love this.
Lyle lovingly refers to vests like this as "gorilla vests." As you can see though it is still on my must have list for Fall. I think of pairing this with plaid button ups and chunky knit scarves, bling and a pair of skinny jeans with some loafers and it's the perfect Fall piece. These always go SO fast despite your first impression of it.
Now in all honesty I shop anywhere, including Abercrombie, when I find pieces as perfect as this! (and as long as they aren't covered in the logos). I even tried it on in the store and I love the quilted pattern that sets this one a part and it doesn't look cheap at all. Andi Dorfman wore a similar one from Revolve Clothing on this past season of the Bachelorette for around $500 but this baby looks so much like it for a fraction of the cost (I compared for a long time...). A black leather jacket is the number one thing on my fall list. I have a perfectly good Steve Madden one at home that's just a little too big right now (but if you're interested I'll be selling it on ebay!) and now I need to make room for a new one. I would love to wear this with a lace dress, wine colored or plaid scarves and cute wool hats. BUT don't buy this for full price. I NEVER buy anything from here for full price because I can find discount codes online and I get their emails and they do sales every week. I promise you. So here I am just waiting for this baby to go on sale. Risky when I love it as much as I do but I'm all about the sale.
Okay, before you say anything this is ugly. I know it is....but at the same time I find myself just staring at it...it could be that it's leopard print and a total fav of mine or that it's from Zara and I can picture myself strolling through the streets of Paris in it because it just screams high fashion to me. I would never buy this for that price butttt I can't help but want to just try it on. So chic if paired right and I would definitely place this in the dressy category.
This is my only pick for an actual coat coat this year. I don't normally pick things that are blue but for some reason I am drawn to it.
I love a good camo or twill jacket. I have one of both and I love the versatility they have. I put them in the same category because they both have that similar army vibe going on and can give off more of an edgy look. Paired with a beanie or some boots they will be easy transition pieces.
Trench coats are perfect for wearing over dresses or skirts, to church our out somewhere nice. The selection and colors are endless. I love the buttons and how they are double breasted...the material, everything. I have one that I got from Olive & Tweed ( a Park City boutique) but you can pretty much find them everywhere. I wouldn't say this is necessarily my favorite one but its not too pricey for a trench coat. H&M usually has reasonable ones and I've seen some cute ones at Delias before too. You can use Pinterest for some ways to style them and get some inspiration.

My in my dreams coat. But hey, maybe someone will stumble across my blog who can drop dough on this baby.
Some of my favorite vests from J. Crew Factory. They are always cheaper than purchasing online and I got the wine colored one in the center (and $20 cheaper too). If you haven't noticed the whole oxblood, burgundy, wine, maroon, I have a 100 names for basically the same color color is all over the place and the new big thing right now and that is fine by me. The camo one is next on my list but how cute is that plaid?! They were just putting it out today so its not even online yet!

Obviously these aren't all needs and I'm not saying that. Also, you can't build a whole wardrobe in one season but you can focus on one item to add each year. Try to pick pieces that are classic and timeless and that you can continue to wear year after year. Outerwear is usually an investment because its pricier than most of your tops or summer clothes in general but I wear my jackets for years on end so I usually spend a lot of time comparing my options.

Rainy Dayz

I was going to wait until Europe to display this adorable jacket but well since its Labor Day, everything at Piper&Scoot is 15% off  w/ code laborday15 and today happened to be a windy, off and on rainy day. I love polka dots so much I literally had to forbid myself to buy anything else with polka dots but luckily I did that after I had this gem. I love the cinch waist and the hood and everything about it. The whole website is adorable and if I could spend anymore money I would seriously buy it all. I love little boutique stuff because they usually have limited quantities and everyone isn't walking around in the same stuff...plus the quality is usually pretty good.

The hunter boots are a birthday present from my parents and I love them! I got several compliments on them when we were out today. and they are just black... I love the fun colors that they come in but a black pair is necessary to go with everything. I really want the lipstick (hot pink!) color next but they always sell out so fast! Oh and last but not least these leggings are $3.80. Yup. And they come in 26 different colors. I think leggings are a staple for any wardrobe. ESPECIALLY for Fall. They are so cute layered with tunics and dresses and boots and you can't beat this price. Well I am off to bake cookies & snuggle with Murphy on the rainy day.

Mixed Prints

Today was really a just chill "i'm bummin it" kinda day. This morning we just got up and ran errands and I knew I had to run later so I didn't bother doing too much. Didn't do my hair, threw some leggings on and added a Kate Spade piece to make it look a little more thrown together. Speaking of Kate Spade, I LOVE her. My obsession has hit an all time high as of late and I decided to "like" their instagram and it was a good bad idea. This baby was 75% off. I basically stole it...okay not that great and can't you just feel me justifying it? but I love leopard and Kate Spade so well, it was a no brainer. I actually just stared at my computer screen for a while and when Lyle heard the deal he insisted, INSISTED I get it. Okay husband of the year, thanks for realizing how important Kate Spade is. Another way I have found I can easily afford my growing addiction is Ebay. You like Kate Spade duds? Check it out. I have been loving on this beautifully perfect Audrey Hephburn dress for a month now and I am just waiting for the "sale" price to be a normal price.  Or just go sell your old clothes to Plato's Closet or on Ebay and you're good (how I can continually keep shopping...out with the old to pay for the new!) I'll be posting about this shortly and sharing some of my new finds!
P.S. Isn't this bow necklace so dainty and cute?! I pre-ordered this baby forever ago and finally got it! Definitely worth the wait AND I got it for lik $23 including shipping w/ a coupon. SCORE.
