Hello Fall

I'm over here dreaming of Fall which I pretty much do all year round because it's my favorite. Favorite food, favorite clothes, favorite activities, favorite sights and favorite smells. I am still clinging to our next couple weeks of Summer because our "Summer" is actually just beginning over here in Measom household but I always find you get some of the best deals before the season actually starts or right after its over. Outerwear is not only Lyles favorite thing but its slowly starting to become mine as well so here are a couple Fall (excluding rain jackets & windbreakers) outerwear wardrobe staples:

a vest (a plain one to match things & a fun pattern)
a dressy coat (trench, double breasted style, etc)
a leather jacket (def black but brown is useful too)
a coat coat (something warm)
army style (camo or twill style- specifically army green)
I got this vest last year and I love it just as much. Classy and it goes with everything. Check it out on pinterest, there is a reason it was going for $400 on Ebay! People were and still are obsessed with the herringbone.
I've already posted this on my blog before because I love it that much. I can PROMISE you that you will fall in love with it. The quality and look of it is amazing. I purchased this a couple months ago because I had a discount and got it for like $35-$40. Lyle's eyes about popped out of his head (partially because my husband has a thing for ladies in leather jackets like this- he always thinks they are super hot). And it looks way more expensive that it was. You really can't beat this price. I always buy Fall stuff early and I have a feeling this baby will go fast when people start stocking up. You will love it. It's one of my favorite purchases,

I already ordered this because I am mad for plaid. No really, I love this.
Lyle lovingly refers to vests like this as "gorilla vests." As you can see though it is still on my must have list for Fall. I think of pairing this with plaid button ups and chunky knit scarves, bling and a pair of skinny jeans with some loafers and it's the perfect Fall piece. These always go SO fast despite your first impression of it.
Now in all honesty I shop anywhere, including Abercrombie, when I find pieces as perfect as this! (and as long as they aren't covered in the logos). I even tried it on in the store and I love the quilted pattern that sets this one a part and it doesn't look cheap at all. Andi Dorfman wore a similar one from Revolve Clothing on this past season of the Bachelorette for around $500 but this baby looks so much like it for a fraction of the cost (I compared for a long time...). A black leather jacket is the number one thing on my fall list. I have a perfectly good Steve Madden one at home that's just a little too big right now (but if you're interested I'll be selling it on ebay!) and now I need to make room for a new one. I would love to wear this with a lace dress, wine colored or plaid scarves and cute wool hats. BUT don't buy this for full price. I NEVER buy anything from here for full price because I can find discount codes online and I get their emails and they do sales every week. I promise you. So here I am just waiting for this baby to go on sale. Risky when I love it as much as I do but I'm all about the sale.
Okay, before you say anything this is ugly. I know it is....but at the same time I find myself just staring at it...it could be that it's leopard print and a total fav of mine or that it's from Zara and I can picture myself strolling through the streets of Paris in it because it just screams high fashion to me. I would never buy this for that price butttt I can't help but want to just try it on. So chic if paired right and I would definitely place this in the dressy category.
This is my only pick for an actual coat coat this year. I don't normally pick things that are blue but for some reason I am drawn to it.
I love a good camo or twill jacket. I have one of both and I love the versatility they have. I put them in the same category because they both have that similar army vibe going on and can give off more of an edgy look. Paired with a beanie or some boots they will be easy transition pieces.
Trench coats are perfect for wearing over dresses or skirts, to church our out somewhere nice. The selection and colors are endless. I love the buttons and how they are double breasted...the material, everything. I have one that I got from Olive & Tweed ( a Park City boutique) but you can pretty much find them everywhere. I wouldn't say this is necessarily my favorite one but its not too pricey for a trench coat. H&M usually has reasonable ones and I've seen some cute ones at Delias before too. You can use Pinterest for some ways to style them and get some inspiration.

My in my dreams coat. But hey, maybe someone will stumble across my blog who can drop dough on this baby.
Some of my favorite vests from J. Crew Factory. They are always cheaper than purchasing online and I got the wine colored one in the center (and $20 cheaper too). If you haven't noticed the whole oxblood, burgundy, wine, maroon, I have a 100 names for basically the same color color is all over the place and the new big thing right now and that is fine by me. The camo one is next on my list but how cute is that plaid?! They were just putting it out today so its not even online yet!

Obviously these aren't all needs and I'm not saying that. Also, you can't build a whole wardrobe in one season but you can focus on one item to add each year. Try to pick pieces that are classic and timeless and that you can continue to wear year after year. Outerwear is usually an investment because its pricier than most of your tops or summer clothes in general but I wear my jackets for years on end so I usually spend a lot of time comparing my options.

Rainy Dayz

I was going to wait until Europe to display this adorable jacket but well since its Labor Day, everything at Piper&Scoot is 15% off  w/ code laborday15 and today happened to be a windy, off and on rainy day. I love polka dots so much I literally had to forbid myself to buy anything else with polka dots but luckily I did that after I had this gem. I love the cinch waist and the hood and everything about it. The whole website is adorable and if I could spend anymore money I would seriously buy it all. I love little boutique stuff because they usually have limited quantities and everyone isn't walking around in the same stuff...plus the quality is usually pretty good.

The hunter boots are a birthday present from my parents and I love them! I got several compliments on them when we were out today. and they are just black... I love the fun colors that they come in but a black pair is necessary to go with everything. I really want the lipstick (hot pink!) color next but they always sell out so fast! Oh and last but not least these leggings are $3.80. Yup. And they come in 26 different colors. I think leggings are a staple for any wardrobe. ESPECIALLY for Fall. They are so cute layered with tunics and dresses and boots and you can't beat this price. Well I am off to bake cookies & snuggle with Murphy on the rainy day.

Mixed Prints

Today was really a just chill "i'm bummin it" kinda day. This morning we just got up and ran errands and I knew I had to run later so I didn't bother doing too much. Didn't do my hair, threw some leggings on and added a Kate Spade piece to make it look a little more thrown together. Speaking of Kate Spade, I LOVE her. My obsession has hit an all time high as of late and I decided to "like" their instagram and it was a good bad idea. This baby was 75% off. I basically stole it...okay not that great and can't you just feel me justifying it? but I love leopard and Kate Spade so well, it was a no brainer. I actually just stared at my computer screen for a while and when Lyle heard the deal he insisted, INSISTED I get it. Okay husband of the year, thanks for realizing how important Kate Spade is. Another way I have found I can easily afford my growing addiction is Ebay. You like Kate Spade duds? Check it out. I have been loving on this beautifully perfect Audrey Hephburn dress for a month now and I am just waiting for the "sale" price to be a normal price.  Or just go sell your old clothes to Plato's Closet or on Ebay and you're good (how I can continually keep shopping...out with the old to pay for the new!) I'll be posting about this shortly and sharing some of my new finds!
P.S. Isn't this bow necklace so dainty and cute?! I pre-ordered this baby forever ago and finally got it! Definitely worth the wait AND I got it for lik $23 including shipping w/ a coupon. SCORE.

San Antonio

Guys, the summer is coming to an end! And if you could hear me say it I would sound like the happiest person ever. Who in their right mind is excited for the summer to be over?? Um a Vivint employee and his wife, that's who. This Summer was a lot of change for a couple of newlyweds who are used to spending every waking minute together (well except for his sales trips) but at the same time I know I will go home and miss Texas, the wives and our little apt that has become a second home.

For those who have no clue what's going on in my life (by the questions, i'm assuming everyone) I'll fill you in. We have 3.5 weeks left here (here being right outside of Houston) & that's it. Our 5 months is finally coming to an end. It's been a long Summer, even longer for the guys but I know all the fun and time together is going to be worth it. I started off entertaining myself by picking up a job but it was most definitely not a good environment one, and two, it was starting to interfere with the little time we had together so it only lasted 5 to 6 weeks. Then I entertained myself by taking two weeks to visit friends and family in both Maryland and Florida which was nice but my hardworking man had to stay behind. Then I "entertained" myself by studying for my praxis exam and luckily passed! So good news is I will actually graduate in this lifetime! And even better news is it will be in the next two years, if things continue to go according to plan I will be back in school in January. Since Lyle decided to do extended season I knew he needed some fun to be able to finish strong so obviously a mini vacation was necessary. I made a list of things we wanted to do in during our time down here (no surprise there, I love lists) and a trip to San Antonio was at the top. First off we wandered a local farmers market, then checked into our hotel & then wandered a couple blocks to the Alamo because we were that close! Now unfortunately for us, it happened to be one of the hottest days ever. Lyle thinks its even hotter in San Antonio than Houston and we were both dying. But even still we learned some history, took some pictures & sat on some canons...
My favorite part came next...
Innertube strugglin.
Ok if you go to Texas, you HAVE to go tubing down the river, which shouldn't be hard because theres lots of them to choose from. I loved the atmosphere and how you could just float but you would come up to these fun mini rapids. We met a couple New Yorkers and got to listen to some music. All in all, it was a good time. This is something I was told about when I first got to Texas and I have wanted to do it all Summer...it was worth it.
Then we came back and went to the San Antonio Riverwalk!
(the boat below is the one we actually went on)
It was beautiful! Lyle said he felt like we were in the Jungle Book and he was waiting to see some wild animals. If you count ducks & bats then yes we sure did! Yes, I said bats.
I know this picture is absolutely terrible haha but this is when the whole bat thing came into play. When we went under this tons and tons of bats started flying over head and instead of taking pictures I just stared at them so here ya go, one lone bat straggler. It was one of the coolest things and our driver said he's only seen something like that twice in the past 5 years. SO cool.
Then we had dinner on the Riverwalk! This duck was originally named Olsen (by me) but Lyle said Bill was more fitting so I rolled with it. Word of advice: DO NOT GO TO THE RIVER WALK WHEN YOU ARE STARVING. You've been warned. There was more restaurants than I could count and I was beyond hungry and I couldn't handle the choices. Luckily Lyle ended up picking one of the many Mexican places and Bill enjoyed it as well. Begging ducks are almost as cute as begging puppies.
When we got home we just crashed. I was beyond excited to have a t.v. (we decided to do without one this summer & not drag ours down here) and snuggle up to watch an episode of Friends but no such luck. The next morning we went to The Magnolia Pancake Haus. I found it from an episode of Diners, Drive ins and Drives, a favorite show of ours, and Lyle was in heavennnn. He's always down for anything I plan because I always pick the best food places that he will love. It was every bit as good as we hoped it would be and getting up at 6:30 for it was SO worth it. FYI: a cute couple at the Farmers Market told us to get there early because the wait can get pretty insane.
Then we meandered down to the River Walk one last time. I was so sad to say goodbye.
Of course Murphy had to get the Riverwalk experience too
I was hoping this trip would get us through these last couple weeks but I'm missing San Antonio already. We have lots to look forward to in the next couple months because our "Summer" is just beginning! A road trip to the coast and our trip to Europe, which is booked and now official btw because can you believe we have been married 11 months? What. I am not about to give up the title of newlyweds guys, sorry, it's staying...PDA is going to become even more unacceptable and I am lovin life right now. But anyway yeah, our ONE YEAR is next month. But lets finish things in Texas with a bang first babe, 200 club and maybe a little LUKE BRYAN?! I love you!

Oh and on a side note, even though I got out of my first day of school today this little man didn't! My favorite nephew started 1st grade today and there is no doubt that his smile is already gonna break hearts. Good luck CJ! First grade and sporting a faux hawk? Where is time going?!
